Tom and Jerean Hutchinson
Tom Hutchinson, a graduate of the US Naval Academy at Annapolis and retired Captain, USNR, and his wife Jerean, a graduate of New Mexico State University and George Washington University are owners/operators of the renowned La Posta Restaurant in Mesilla, NM. Together they have been committed toeconomic development and community involvement at local, state and regional levels.

Jerean’s community involvementand recognitionshave included Chair for the NMSU Business Advisory Council, NMSU Presidential Search Committee (2013), Chair for Old Mesilla Merchants Association, Chair for the Las Cruces Catholic School board,the 2010 NMSU James F. Cole Memorial Award for Service, and the YWCA 2005 Reach Award for Business Women Who Make a Difference.

Tom’s community involvement currently includes Chairman of the Boar for the Citizens Bank of Las Cruces, Board of Directors for Aggie Development Corp., Board of Directors for the New Mexico Partnership and Board of Directors for Borderplex Alliance.

Other professional affiliations for Tom include past Chair and current board member of the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Partnership and past Chairman of the Board for the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce. In 2003 Tom was recognized as “Volunteer of the Year” by the NM Industrial Executives Association and “Citizen of the Year” from the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce in 2003 and 2011, becoming the first ever two-time winner. Tomwas awarded the prestigious “Distinguished Community Service Award” recognizing his community involvement and service to our country and is a Naval Academy Blue & Gold Officer, identifying qualified candidates in Southern NM for admission to the US Naval Academy.

Jointly Tom and Jerean have won many accolades for La Posta Restaurant including New Mexico Restaurant Association Restaurateur of the Year, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year, Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year, State of New Mexico Commendation from the NM Department of Tourism and the NMSU Spirit Service Award to name a few.
