Recognizing Those Committed to Making a Difference
Brett Newberry

Brett Newberry is an active volunteer and highly valued community leader in Gallup . His involvement locally includes President and Treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce; Rehoboth Christian School Board member; Kiwanis Club President; UNM-Gallup Board Member; Chairman of Rehoboth McKinley County Hospital and Chairman of the City of Gallup Business Improvement District.

During the past three years, Brett has led two major organizations in improving the quality of life for the citizens of Gallup and the surrounding area. First with the Rehoboth McKinley County Health Care Services Foundation which sponsors an annual charity golf and dinner event that has raised almost 4 million dollars in support of the hospital. Brett chairs the committee ensuring continued success for this pivotal event for the Foundation. The monies raised are used to purchase medical equipment and enlarge facilities.

And in 1987 Brett served as chairman of the committee to formulate a plan of action to improve the retail business retention of the central business district. He worked with property and business owners in the historic downtown area. His leadership led to a Business Improvement District Ordinance passed by the City Council in 2008. The business owners assessed themselves an additional property tax to provide funding for infrastructure and other improvements to enhance the business environment. And Brett Newberry was the leading force in this major undertaking.

He is an avid sports and Lobo fan who helped to organize a McKinley County Lobo Club Chapter. He knows his community and is always willing to lend his time to ensure results.
