.Ben Woods has been recognized professionally as “Energy Professional of the Year” for the State of New Mexico and the Southwestern Region of the U.S. by the Association of Energy Engineers. Additionally, he was awarded the T.D.A. Cockerell Award from the NMSU College of Agriculture and Home Economics; was selected to the honor society Phi Kappa Phi and received the President’s Award for Service for “renewing the vitality, competence, and professionalism of the Physical Plant Department. He continually strengthens MSU’s relationships with the city of Las Cruces and Dona Ana county. He is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of the university’s master plan, which outlines the university’s future physical development and land use.

Senior VP Woods serves on the Steering Committee for the Mesilla Valley Hospice Capital Campaign , the Community Advisory Board for First Community Bank, Las Cruces , the Mountain View Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees, the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce and the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance Board. In addition to these activities, Ben also participates in activities as Las Cruces High School as a band parent and in his church.
