William M. Knauf
Since joining Sandia National Laboratories in 1994,Mr. Knauf has had responsibility for directing Division operations on behalf of Sandia with the National Nuclear Security Agency. the U.S.Departments of Energy and State and the NationalIntelligence agencies. His colleagues wrote that he,.had been the key driver in the development of presentation of position papers and policies benefiting the federal gov- ernment and the citizens of our nation through his work in these areas: l)reduce the vulnerability of the United States to the proliferation and use of weapons of mass effects; 2)provide performance and vulnerability assessments of both US and foreign technical capabilities; and 3)the development of associated tools and technology.
Mr. Knaufs passion for youth development and education is demonstrated by being a volunteer coach for boy's soccer in the AYSO and the Duke City organization for 5 years. He was active in the Albuquerque Business Education Compact and instrumental in bringing the diverse interests of the Compact together to develop their legislative agenda. He was the founding Chairman of the Middle Rio Grande Business and Education Collaborative. Under his leadership the organization received the National Alliance of Business Distinguished Performance Award as "Business Coalition of the Year." He was able to engage the surrounding schools and districts in workforce development and career pathways for our youth and students. He has also been an active member of the Economic Forum where he chaired the Education Committee.
Bill is currently serving as Chairman of the New Mexico First organiza- tion where he has served several years of sustained involvement. This statewide organization provides effective Town Halls to address the important issues facing our state.
