Marcia Martinez
Marcia Martinez is currently the Deputy Chief Information Officer (ClO) for the State of New Mexico. She is a member of the National Association Information Resource Executives (NASIRE), representing ClO's through out the United States. In her capacity as Deputy CIO, she was Chair of the nominating committee that evaluated 86 entries for awards in nine technology categories for the Annual NASIRE Conference in Baltimore, Maryland last year. She has received numerous certificates of recognition and appreciation for her work with the State of New Mexico Information Systems Division.
While Interim ClO for the State of New Mexico, Ms. Martinez provided leadership and guidance to the staff and was instrumental in the completion of documentation to earn the office a Quality New Mexico Pinon Award. She has also acted as Deputy Chair for the Information Technology Commission (ITC), whose responsibilities include setting IT standards, direction, and policies.
As a member of the United States Army, Ms. Martinez earned two related awards during her 6 1/2 years of service. The Army Achievement Medal for outstanding work performed on active duty during Personnel Training at Ft. Carson Colorado and the Army Commendation Medal for saving a fellow female soldier under duress during a training exercise.
Ms. Martinez has worked extensively as an Executive Board member of the Girl Scouts-Sangre de Cristo Council in Santa Fe, promoting diversity, providing leadership, and presenting a role model for young girls seeking non-traditional roles in technological fields. As an Executive Board member, Ms. Martinez participates with other Board members to make decisions regarding policies, rules and oversight of budget expenditure for the Girl Scout organization. The Girl Scouts-Sangre de Cristo Council selected Ms. Martinez as a "Woman of Distinction" in 2000.
