Gustavo "Gus" Cordova
For over 15 years, Gustavo "Gus" Cordova has been recognized for his work with communities in and around Taos County, and as Town Manager he has been instrumental in improving the quality of public service in Taos. Recently, the U.S. Agency for International Development selected Gus and three other professional managers in the country to participate in a Management Exchange program for developing countries, based on his record of superior performance and community service.
Gus was appointed to represent Taos County in the newly created La Jicarita Enterprise Community, a national program with the specific purpose of stimulating economic development in poor counties to help them participate in the world economy. Out of this came the School to Work program, providing youth with mentorship in business. Gus was recently elected Vice-Chairman of the organization.
Through the Taos County Intergovernmental Council, Gus has been a leader in building a framework for solid waste disposal, establishing the Film Commission, and creating the regional recycling program. He currently serves on the Los Alamos Technology Commercialization Board of Directors, which assists in creating high technology ventures in Northern New Mexico.
